The Druid Way

Sing-Along-A-Wicker-Man and Cult of Water

February 16th, 2023

The fabulously talented David Bramwell – host of the OBOD sponsored podcast Adventures in Nutopia and Sony-Award winning presenter for BBC Radio 3 and BBC Radio 4 – has a couple of events coming up in Leeds, both of which are well worth seeing!

The first is Cult of Water:

Featuring the voice of Alan Moore and the music of Oddfellow’s Casino.

Combining music, animation and archive film with a captivating monologue, David Bramwell takes audiences on a dreamy candle-lit journey, in search of the supernatural secrets of our rivers, and a drowned village which has long haunted his memories.

Aided by a witch and magician, Alan Moore, Bramwell travels back in time to battle with his thalassophobia (the fear of ‘what lurks beneath’) and to unearth the myths and rituals of our rivers, and their symbolic association with feminine power.

At the end of the show there will be a 10 minutes Q&A, with a particular focus on Leeds own river, The Aire.

Date: Thursday 2 March 2023
Tickets: £12.50 + Booking Fee.
Doors: 7pm. Show 8pm
Venue: The Old Woollen, 83-85 Town Street, Farsley, Leeds LS28 5UJ

The second is the delightful Sing-Along-A-Wicker-Man which some of you may have had the pleasure of seeing at the OBOD Summer Gathering last year. TIME OUT magazine described it as ‘Camp, cheeky and hugely entertaining’ – I can attest to that!!

Dust down your best Scottish accent, dress up as your favourite character and come join in with the singing, actions, buttock-slapping and dialogue of this horror classic. Your hosts Lord Summerisle and Willow Mcgregor (aka. Dr. Bramwell and Eliza Skelton) will get things warmed up with a little live music, lead you through the actions for the songs then, at the Witching Hour, you’ll be provided with a pagan song book – featuring the words to all the songs – and a goody bag full of surprises, we’ll roll the film and may god have mercy on your soul.
