It is Time for a Battle of the Magicians

November 4th, 2016

It is time for a battle of the magicians. I will ask Sir Richard Heygate to ride up with me to Primrose Hill. There we can look down upon London from that sacred summit, beloved of the Druids, and await the arrival of the young upstarts – Letcher, Van Ryn and Dooley. Perhaps Letcher and I will duel with our wands as Heygate and those renegade artists throw shields of protection around their respective friends. Or perhaps we will box and wrestle as our fellow magicians shout curses and imprecations. Whatever happens, this English Magic Tarot cannot fall into the hands of a public unprepared for the secrets it reveals.

  1. Very good – the wands I would watch, but boxing and wrestling? One remembers Oliver Reed & Alan Bates in Women in Love with extreme unease…(affects Cockney accent) ‘Leave ‘im mate, ‘snot worf it!’

  2. It is the achievements of magicians that marks them and the greatest did this in service to a higher power.

As Blake said “Great things are done when men and mountains meet: This is not done by jostling in the street”.

Let he who can conjure compassion in the hearts of the mighty and bread in the stomachs of the poor be celebrated as the greatest for there would be magic indeed.

  3. Consider the gauntlet gathered up, Sir.

The English Magic Tarot will not be hindered by Man, nor Beast, nor Magician.

Let the Druids Hill be the place. Let Dawn be the time. Let the date set it’s self.

As, the invited out, I believe the weapons of choice is mine, Sir. You will hear from my page in good time.

    Yours,

    Rex Van Ryn
