Samhain & Beltane Blessings! /|\
At the heart of the focus on death at Samhain is the fundamental process of shedding. Like snakes shedding skin, trees shedding leaves, we need to periodically shake ourselves free, to let go of everything from unhelpful habits or relationships to just the clutter that accumulates from living in this over-full and complicated world we have created.
Samhain is a time for choosing simplicity over the urge to constantly accumulate urged upon us by our consumerist world. It’s a time for liberation – for the freedom that comes to us when we let go of only taking and start to give of ourselves, when we let go of the delusion that the earth belongs to us and instead really take on board the magnificence of what it means to experience quite the reverse: that we belong to the earth, to nature, to life.
