Protect Titirangi

July 8th, 2017
Many thanks to Phil and Theresa Partridge for making me aware of the threat to Titirangi, New Zealand. Watercare is a council owned corporation that is proposing the development of a new water treatment plant that will mean the clearing of 4 hectares of virgin forest and the felling of ancient trees including Kauri. It will also mean there will be 3 water treatment plants (including one derelict plant and the current – both of which are listed buildings so cannot be demolished) on the same rural road, with regular deliveries by Chlorine tankers all in the foothills of the Waitakere Ranges. There is a website and Facebook page that has been set up to oppose the plans. It would be a tragedy to destroy this beautiful forest.
