Druids Recycle Wastepaper Stonehenge
The creative process can be dramatic. A moment of high drama arose a few years back in the Order of Bards Ovates & Druids office when two hapless males (Damh and myself) tried to argue for a simple cardboard shoe-box design to hold the Order’s teachings. Annie and Stephanie (both artists) argued for a cunning crafted box with different inserts to hold text or CDs, that worked like a large book that opened out. The artists won and a manufacturer was found – who was even more eccentric than the folk at OBOD HQ. Run by an old hippie, the factory has won environmental awards, is situated in the Downs in a recycled chicken farm, and in their spare time the staff run a rescue home for ducks. And now they must have more time on their hands because they’ve built a replica of Stonehenge out of waste paper and cardboard. Anyone who gets one of the Order’s boxes can take satisfaction in knowing that it might have been made out of a Stonehenge…sort of…

Quite right too – anyone can shove their booklets into a shoebox! If I’m going to get something sent from HQ in the post it had better be beautiful as well as cunning! Having said that, mine are all in second-hand cutaway cardboard magazine holders – works for me!
What an inspirational idea 🙂
