Am I a falcon, a storm, or a great song?
December 3rd, 2012
A poem from Rilke’s Book of Hours : Love Poem to God by Rainer Maria Rilke, translated by Joanna Macy, Riverhead, 2005
I live my life in widening circles
that reach out across the world.
I may not complete this last one
but I give myself to it.
I circle around God, around the primordial tower.
I’ve been circling for thousands of years
and I still don’t know: am I a falcon,
a storm, or a great song?

Lovely 🙂 Reminds me of Gerard Manley Hopkins “The Windhover” (http://www.bartleby.com/122/12.html), but a bit more restrained 😀
Really beuatifull, this poem goes straight into our hearts.
There are so many meanings we can retrieve from it.
My favorite of Rilke’s poems, and I admire Joanna Macy SO much!
It’s so funny. I have been feeling of late, which no words could apt supply.
This specks just to it.
Thank you
